Andrew runs the Paris Marathon in 4 h 19 m 27 s

On Sunday 9th April Andrew Martin from the SWLLC debt team ran the Paris Marathon in the summer like heat coming in at a time of 4 hours 19 minutes and 27 seconds, an amazing achievement! 43,754 people took on the challenge of running 26.2 miles across scorching hot French pavements and we are very proud that Andrew did so on behalf of the Law Centre.

Alongside impressive physical feats, Andrew’s work in the debt team is life changing for those who he helps. As a Thames Water Caseworker he makes applications for grants and household appliances from the Thames Water Trust Fund for clients facing huge financial struggles. See more on our casework page about the service Andrew provides, the effect of which is shown by the case of Miss R:

Miss R was initially referred to our debt advice service by a support worker at Mind. She suffers from multiple physical and mental health conditions, which significantly affect her mobility and she is not often able to leave the house as a result. Miss R’s debts totalled over £5,000, many being parking charges that were being collected by bailiffs with the fear of their visits affecting her health. After coming to the Law Centre and having an appointment with Andrew, he informed her of her full debt options and her rights surrounding the bailiffs. Miss R decided that she would like to pursue a debt relief order and Andrew made a successful application to the Thames Water Trust Fund to cover the fee. Miss R is now able to have her debts cleared.

Andrew’s dedication to all of his clients ensures that he strives to help them in any way they can, and will always go the extra mile, or 26 in this case. Thank you to him for all his efforts and months of training to raise some much needed funds for SWLLC. Help him hit his sponsorship target on his donation page!
