Food banks and law centres both work to alleviate hardship within the community. For years Purley Food Hub, a local independent food bank, has provided vouchers for clients of SWLLC’s debt team whose caseworkers identify are struggling to feed themselves and their families. You can now donate to Purley Food Hub by a collection point at SWLLC’s Croydon office. The Food Hub was set up by Purley & Kenley Churches Together and has provided nearly 80,000 meals since opening in 2013.
Food bank usage continues to rise, with the Trussell Trust stating that one million three day emergency food supplies were given to people in crisis in 2015/16. Food banks are a life line for some people, whose lives you can make a difference to by picking up a few extra items on your weekly shop. Please consider donating one or more of this month’s priority items and bringing them to the Law Centre in Davis House, Croydon:
